Economy In Italy

With $514 billion exported in 2016, Italy is the eighth largest exporter in the world. It exports machinery including computers and other electrical equipment, vehicles, pharmaceuticals, plastic and plastic articles, etc.

It is a wealthy nation with the third largest gold reserve in the world. It is also the world’s largest wine producer. Italy is the third largest market for luxury goods in the world. Despite all the riches, unemployment is one of the major problems in Italy.

For foreigners, buying a house in Italy is only permitted if there is a treaty between your country and Italy, allowing material reciprocity. This treaty however, fairly, also allows them to buy a house in your country.

Drafting of any forms like buying and selling property contracts with citizens of “non-reciprocity” countries is not allowed to notaries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs verifies the reciprocity between itself and other countries periodically.

If you’re a citizen of the European Union countries, EEA countries (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein) there aren’t any special requirements needed to purchase a property.

Schools In Italy

The education system in Italy has been prevalent since 1859. Kindergarten is referred to as “asilo” in Italy.

It is not compulsory and lasts for three years proceeded by primary school, referred to as “scuola elementare” which is for a period of 5 years. In middle school, referred to as Scuola secondaria di primo grado, common subjects students have to study are English, history, mathematics, Italian, natural sciences, social studies, geography, visual and musical arts, etc.

Up until a few years ago (2004) Students were required to pass an exam which consisted of a math test, an essay in Italian, and vivas for other subjects to be able to attend middle school. However this practice has been abandoned and students can enter middle directly now.

Weather In Italy

Italy has a climate systems that varies form the north to south. The Northen part of the country, ie. the Alps to Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, experiences harsh climate, with cold winters and very hot and humid summers. The central part of Italy experiences a milder climate with slight temperature differences. Central Italy has shorter winters and longer summers. As far as the Islands and the southern areas are concerned the winters aren’t as harsh as it’s northern parts.
