The elections in Japan are held every 4 years. The prime minister and his cabinet, selected post this election, have the legislative power. The prime minister’s cabinet also called the Diet, is a 480-member House of Representatives. There is also a 252-member House of Councilors that equally participates in making legislative decisions. The judicial system of Japan is based on Roman law and is independent of the parliament.
