China is the third largest country in the world with an area of 9.6 million square kilometers. It is also the most populated country in the world.

Known for its vast heritage, China is one of the world’s earliest civilizations. Today, China dominates the global manufacturing market and is one of the biggest players that contribute to the world economy.

Living in China

When you move to China, you will notice a stark contrast between high-end skyscrapers and old traditional buildings. While you will see modernization in major cities of China, like Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen, Taipei, Hong Kong and more, if you move towards the interior, you will see a more traditional side of the country. A decade ago, it would have been impossible for outsiders to survive in China without a working knowledge of Mandarin. But in the recent years, the youngsters living in big cities are speaking fluent English. The arts, science, writing system, philosophy, religions, and social order that developed in China have had a tremendous influence on the countries of East Asia as well as the Western world. When in China, you can also learn some authentic Chinese martial arts like Kung Fu.

Politics in China

The Communist Party of the China has been in control of the People’s Republic of China ever since the Chinese Civil War ended in 1949.

China is a one-party state and its current President is Xi Jinping. There are other parties, called the Democratic parties, in China too. But these parties only participate in the political conferences. In every election, the CPC (Communist Party of China) wins by default. The elections in China happen every 5 years and the next election will be held in the year 2020.

Chinese Economy

One of the fastest growing economies in the world, China has some great opportunities for everyone. Everything, from cell phones to kitchen appliances and from shoes to toys, is being manufactured in China. The country is undergoing the second industrial revolution and will soon emerge as one of the strongest economies in the world.

Buying or Renting Property in China

Renting an apartment in the more developed cities of China is not difficult at all. Cities like Beijing and Shanghai are filled with skyscrapers that house apartments with the most modern amenities. You will never feel alone because these cities are crowded with people and almost everything is open 24/7. If you are moving to a smaller city or town, you might see less modern homes. These homes will give you a more traditional Chinese feel and will not have many updated appliances.

All citizens are required to compulsorily attend 9 years of school, including six years of primary education and three years of middle school. The age to enroll children in schools in China is 6 years. If the students wish to continue their education post middle school, they can study for three more years in high school and complete their secondary education. After the secondary education is over, the next step is 4 years of college. If you are moving to China with your children, it is advisable to take admissions in advance as the schools in China have limited seats.

Weather in China

The weather in China is extremely different across its different geographical locations as it is a very vast country. China has everything from snow-clad mountains to sunny beaches and from blooming spring trees to beautiful autumn colors. The country experiences all four seasons, viz. spring, summer, autumn and winter. Many cities like Beijing and Xi’an experience dry, hot summers and chilly winters. However, Shanghai, Hong Kong. Hangzhou and other neighbouring cities experience rainfall during spring and summer and milder winters.
